BOAST OF ROMAN FOOD TRADITION: BRUSCHETTA (garlic toast)

Probably this is one of the most popular Roman recipe. The Bruschetta ( garlic bread) is a symbol of very humble cooking which owes its fame to the simplicity of ingredients and making process.

Any time you sit in a Pizzeria in Italy, first thing you order is a Bruschetta. Typical traditional antipasto, whose origin dates to back to time. It consists of roasted bread rubbed with garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. During summer time, juicy variations may include toppings of tomato, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or fish.

Here the most popular recipe : Bruschetta aglio olio e sale.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt

Method

The best bruschetta is easily ready: Firstly take a finger-thick slice of homemade bread and  toast it . Secondly rub some garlic over the surface. Then add Extra Virgin Olive oil and salt.

If you’d like tomatoes you’d simply add cubes of fresh tomatoes flavoured with basil, and wait for 10 minutes. Definitely delicious!

Secret tips: Cooked and eaten
Another secret for the perfect bruschetta is the temperature.
The bread must be cooked and seasoned and then immediately eaten otherwise the seasoning penetrates too much inside the crumb making it become moist and soft.
